Local SEO for Real Estate

Here's the uncomfortable part: almost nobody searches for a real estate agent. They search for a place — a neighborhood, a street, a school catchment — and they meet an agent on the way. If your site is built around you, it's built around a search that isn't happening.

Guides for Real Estate

How agents and brokerages get found by people searching for a place, not a person.

Why Your Listings Aren't Being Found

Real estate is the only local industry where the geography is the product. That one fact breaks most of the advice you've been given, and it's usually broken in three specific ways.

You're ranking for the wrong thing.

"Homes for sale in [neighborhood]" outweighs "realtor near me" by an enormous margin. If your site is organized around your brokerage — About, Services, Contact — you're competing for a term with almost no volume behind it, while the searches that actually convert go to whoever wrote something specific about the area.

You're trying to beat the portals head-on, and you can't.

The big listing sites will outrank you on the obvious queries. That's not a failing on your part; it's structural. But the ground one level down is genuinely winnable: the specific neighborhood, the specific building, the question a templated portal page physically cannot answer. That's where you should be, and it's where nobody is.

Your geography stops far too high.

Most industries can stop at the city. You can't. Your buyers go city → neighborhood → sub-neighborhood → school district, and they expect the results to follow them down. If your deepest page is about the metro, you're invisible for every search that actually precedes a viewing.
